MicaZ Crossbow mote

Crossbow’ MicaZ motes are small, programmable WSN nodes that can be used for a variety of sensing and control activities, depending on the attached sensor boards. The MicaZ Module is fully compatible with the TinyOS operating system, an operating system specifically tailored for WSN use, having large community support and documentation, easing application development.

Iris Crossbow mote

Crossbow' Iris are sort of MicaZ younger brother, although stronger and faster. Like MicaZ, Iris motes are fully compatible with the TinyOS operating system, an operating system specifically tailored for WSN use. It has twice the RAM capacity and up-to three times the radio range of the MicaZ.

Sun SPOT

Sun Microsystems’ Small Programmable Object Technology (SPOT) nodes are small, programmable nodes that can be used for a variety of sensing and control activities. They are Java-based, making application development much easier than using traditional WSN platforms.

Google Nexus One

One of the most advanced Android phones on the market, and the first one carrying the Google brand. In addition to its many features, it is an open platform where applications can be freely implemented. We are very grateful to Google Portugal for supporting our research by providing us with a Nexus One before its official launch in Portugal.

LEGO Mindstorms NXT

The Mindstorms line of products integrates robotics features in the traditional LEGO construction logic. It provides a simple and familiar robot building and/or prototyping solution. These robots supports several kinds of sensors and actuators, and are able to communicate over Bluetooth, both with each other and with computers or other devices.
