Abstract:

Wireless Sensor Networks are now more than a research field, and new applications are being developed for it on a daily basis. They are composed of a large number of highly constrained and cheap devices communicating through wireless links of limited range who work cooperatively to solve complex problems.
WSNs have an application specific nature, which means that the entire network is designed to accommodate a specific application. Given that the application is developed for a specific target WSN, this approach generates very rigid systems that provide an unviable solution in terms of flexibility. Service discovery is a technique that enables pervasive resource discovery and by itself helps to develop application independent sensor networks. These networks are more flexible while they maintain all the functionality of the previous envisioned solutions.
This thesis aims to design and implement a new service discovery suite and architecture.
